
Ada Rízia holds a PhD in Sociology from the Universidade de São Paulo. Her research focuses on the social effects of incarceration, employing an ethnographic approach to understand the relations between prisons, religion, and urban order management in Brazil. She has collaborated on collective research projects exploring the expansion of criminal markets and related conflicts in the country. In 2023, she served as a faculty volunteer at the Behner Stiefel Center for Brazilian Studies at San Diego State University. Currently, she assists the project "Unlocking Potential: Towards Effective, Sustainable, and Ethical Provision of Employment Opportunities for Prisoners and Prison-Leavers".
