Simona graduated in law in 2023 and is currently a PhD student in the interdisciplinary doctoral program "New public administration: data and human resources", offered by the University of Milano-Bicocca (Italy) in partnership with other Italian universities. Her doctoral research project focuses on prison labour, with particular attention to the employment of prisoners by private companies. In connection with this research, she collaborated with the Prison of Milano-Bollate for six months. She also completed an 18-month traineeship at the Criminal Enforcement Office of the Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of Milan.

During her studies, she volunteered to support prisoners during their university studies and worked for one year at the UEPE (Office for the enforcement of alternative measures to detention) in Milan. Following this experience, she wrote her thesis entitled "The suspension of criminal proceedings with probation. Law and practice in Milan.
